John has civil litigation experience in the areas of insurance defense, including automobile and transportation litigation, the Defense Base Act and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, products liability, and more.
John Dodds is a lifelong Houstonian and alum of University of Houston and South Texas College of Law Houston. During his time at the University of Houston, John earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Asian American Studies. John’s study of history centered largely on the Heian and Kamakura periods of Japanese history, which brought him to study in Japan twice and become proficient in the Japanese language. John continues to travel whenever possible.
During his time at South Texas, John was a participant in the Immigration clinic and secretary of the school’s chapter of the Animal Legal Defense Fund. John is particularly proud of his work in the immigration clinic, which included assisting in the naturalization of immigrant people and adjusting the status of refuges. He was admitted to practice law in the state of Texas in October, 2024 and now represents and advises clients in insurance defense and civil litigation matters in state courts throughout Texas.
In his free time, John enjoys caring for his dog, supporting the Houston Astros, and polishing his foreign language skills.
