Jessica Ogin is a civil trial attorney with an emphasis on personal injury, wrongful death claims, and construction defect claims. She has defended insurance companies, their insureds, as well as small businesses and individuals in arbitration, state courts, and federal courts.

Prior to joining the firm, Jessica practiced in complex construction law, including alleged construction and design defects, and complex, multi-party cases in arbitration, state court, and federal court. In the beginning of her career, Jessica was an Assistant County Attorney in Harris County where she represented county employees in a variety of matters including car accidents, premises liability claims, and other employment matters. Jessica also has experience in appellate work, motion practice, and mediation.
Negotiated a settlement in complex multi-party lawsuit for an architect arising out of alleged design and construction defects in a large multi-residential apartment complex project.
Assisted multiple architects in risk management strategies during active construction projects.
Obtained favorable settlements from various design professionals in pre-suit claims and complex lawsuits arising out of alleged defects in contracted services.
Obtained partial summary judgment in premises liability case.
Obtained dismissal for defendant employer in harassment and loss wage case.
Obtained multiple dismissals of design professionals, including architects and engineers, in lawsuits based on failure to comply with the certificate of merit requirement.
Negotiated a settlement in complex lawsuit for a general contractor arising out of alleged defects in a large commercial project. Managed a team of experts, including HVAC engineer, structural engineer, damage expert, general contractor expert, lost profits expert, and cost expert. After expert depositions, filed a motion to strike plaintiffs’ expert and motion for summary judgment. The case ultimately resolved by mediation resulting in a confidential settlement agreement.
Settled high value car accident case at mediation for significantly less than could have been awarded at trial.
Successful in appeal, holding that the trial court erred in denying the county’s plea to the jurisdiction on plaintiff’s premises liability claim, reversing and rendering judgment dismissing the claim.
